The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Alfonso Dastis, held a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica, Manuel González.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and observed the excellent period being enjoyed in all areas. In this regard, the meeting served to prepare for the upcoming official visit by President Solís, the first Head of State of Costa Rica to make such a trip since Oscar Arias back in 2008.
The ministers also reviewed the state of economic relations in which regard there is a noteworthy core group of Spanish companies that contribute quality jobs, wealth, technology and competitiveness in Costa Rica. Minister Dastis took the opportunity to reiterate Spain’s support for Costa Rica’s membership of the OECD.
Lastly, the meeting also served to review some of the most important current affairs in the region, such as the situation in Venezuela, as well as the current situation in the Central American country, particularly migratory flows, relations with the new North American administration and the fight against organised crime.
