    The President of the Republic of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, will visit Madrid on 8 March, within the framework of the commemoration of the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Spain and Estonia in 2021. During her visit, she will hold meetings with His Majesty the King, with the President of the Government, with the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament and with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. She will also take part in an event organised by the Elcano Royal Institute.

    The Directorate-General for Communication, Public Diplomacy and Networks publishes the following press statement: Their Majesties the King and Queen, accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, will make a State visit to the Principality of Andorra on 25 and 26 March. This will be the first visit at this level by Spain to the Pyrenees country within the framework of the cordial bilateral relations that exist between the two countries.

    Spain strongly condemns the abduction of more than 300 girls from a school in Zamfara state, in northwest Nigeria. This action is very concerning, more so since it is not the first one of this scale in the region. Spain joins in with the call from the international community demanding their immediate release.

    Spain condemns the outbreaks of violence that have occurred in Niamey and other cities in Niger following publication of provisional election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on 23 February, following the second round of presidential elections on 21 February.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation strongly condemns this morning’s attack by the terrorist group the FDLR in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on a United Nations convoy. The Italian Ambassador to DR Congo, Luca Attanasio, one of his bodyguards and two United Nations workers were killed in the attack.

    The Government of Spain strongly condemns the attacks carried out on 15 February against the city of Erbil (Iraq) and on a military base in this city, where forces of the International Coalition against DAESH were stationed, in which a civilian was killed and several others were injured, including an American soldier.

    Spain congratulates Guinea and Sierra Leone on the successful conclusion of the bilateral negotiations that have taken place in recent weeks and which have led to the signing of the General Cooperation Agreement and two cooperation agreements on security and customs on 16 February by the President of the Republic of Guinea, Professor Alpha Conde, and the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, on the occasion of the visit by the latter to Conakry on 15 and 16 February.
