    The Spanish Government wishes to send its sincerest condolences to the people and authorities of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the more than one hundred victims in the states of Niger, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Adamawa, Taraba, Kebbi, Bayelsa, Edo, Anambra, Rivers and Delta, as a consequence of the floods caused by heavy rain, which led the Niger and Benue Rivers to overflow.

    The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation fervently condemns the attack perpetrated yesterday during an election rally in the town of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais state, in the south-eastern region of Brazil, in which Jair Bolsonaro, the Social Liberal Party (PSL) candidate in Brazil's presidential elections, was wounded and wishes him a speedy recovery so that normal election campaigning can be resumed.

    Spain fervently condemns the suicide attack which took place this Wednesday 5 September inside a gym in the Dasht-e-Barchi area in the western part of Kabul. The attack caused over fifty fatalities and several dozens were wounded.

    Spain regrets and rejects the serious decision announced by the US Department of State to totally suspend its contribution to the funding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which had been already reduced down to 60 million dollars at the beginning of this year, and asks this decision be reconsidered, given the serious humanitarian crisis it may give rise to.

    Spain calls for responsibility and restraint so that, by means of the necessary support and contribution of the legitimate Libyan institutions, an immediate and stable ceasefire is agreed and the protection of the population is guaranteed at all times.     The Spanish Government deeply regrets the decision announced last Friday by the President of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, not to request the renewal of the agreement between the UN and the Guatemalan Government, for the continuation of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala, once its validity term ends on 3 September 2019.

    The Spanish Government is deeply concerned about and rejects the recent decision made by the Nicaraguan Government to put an end to the mission of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) team in Nicaragua. We ask the Nicaraguan Government to reconsider its decision about the end of the mission, endorse the conclusions of the UNHCHR report and ensure compliance with its obligations to respect the international conventions on the protection of human rights.
