Explosion on cargo vessel in Bay of Algeciras

News

Last night there was an explosion on a cargo vessel transporting coal, under the flag of Hong Kong, in the waters of the Bay of Algeciras, close to the port of Gibraltar.

The explosion injured two people, who were initially attended to in Gibraltar. The competent port authorities in Gibraltar and Algeciras have been in touch over the incident. The Harbour Master of Algeciras offered all assistance necessary. The two individuals injured have been transferred to a hospital in Seville where they are receiving medical assistance.
