Born in Madrid in 1964, María Celsa Nuño García holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and joined the diplomatic corps in 1989.
Between 1989 and 2008, she held posts at Spanish diplomatic representations in the Ivory Coast, South Africa, the Dominican Republic and Argentina. She was an adviser on international relations for the First Vice-President of the Government between 2008 and 2010.
She held the post of Spanish Ambassador to Jamaica (2010-2014), with accreditation for the Bahamas, Saint Kitts and Neves, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda. She also held the post of Permanent Representative of Spain to the International Seabed Authority.
At the ministerial department, she has held the post of Head of the Legal Affairs Department at the Directorate-General of Legal and Consular Affairs and worked as an adviser to the Technical Office of the Junior Secretary, and to the Directorate-General of Consular Affairs.
She has held the post of Consul-General of Spain in Caracas, in Río de Janeiro and in Rabat, a post she held to date.
