Trinidad Jiménez was born in Malaga on 4 June 1962. She comes from a renowned family of jurists, and herself holds a Law Degree. In July 2000 she was elected as Secretary for International Policy of the PSOE Federal Executive Committee, a position she held until 2003 when she began her electoral campaign as a candidate for Madrid City Council. After the PP's victory, she was named Spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the municipality of Madrid. She held this position whilst also acting as PSOE's Secretary for International Policy. On 8 September 2006 she was named State Secretary for Ibero-America. In the March 2008 general elections she was elected as a deputy for Madrid, and on 7 April 2009 she became the Minister of Health and Social Policy. After a ministerial reshuffle, she was promoted to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation on 20 October 2010. Trinidad Jiménez stood down from her position on 22 December 2011, after the PP election victory of 20 November. In those elections she was elected as representative for Malaga. In the PSOE's new executive committee, after the 38th party conference, she holds the position of Secretary for Social Policy.
