Legalization of documents
Neither Indonesia nor East Timor are Member States of the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961 on abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents. This implies that the legalization of Indonesian or East Timor documents shall be made through diplomatic channels (the document must be legalized by the competent authorities, according to the type of document concerned, ending with the legalizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country and with the legalization of the Embassy of Spain). It is convenient to refer to "legalization" in this website:
Marriages
For the celebration of a marriage between a Spanish citizen and an Indonesian citizen, Indonesian authorities require a certificate of non impediment (certificate of capacity to marry according to the Spanish system). Please contact the Embassy by e-mail to receive more information ( emb.yakarta.sc@maec.es). The rites recognized by Indonesian authorities are the following: Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic, and Protestant.
