School of the Year Awards Honor Spanish Immersion Programs Accross the U.S.
5/27/2016
Ambassador Gil-Casares hosted the 2015 School of the Year awards ceremony at his residence. The Education Office of Spain in the U.S. honors the best schools that strengthen the position of Spanish as the most studied language in the USA by implementing models of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) programs in English and Spanish, commonly known as Two/way, dual or immersion programs.

The event began with an introduction from Ambassador Gil-Casares in which he highlighted the excellent work of the participating schools, especially those winning the contest, thanking them for their daily contribution to the spread of the Spanish language and culture and their making possible the integration of both English and Spanish as vehicles for learning.

A representative from Santillana USA, one of the sponsors of the contest, addressed the audience to explain its sponsorship and afterwards, the awards were presented to the seven winning schools.
