Saturday, April 23 the Embassy celebrated World Book Day with various
activities including a special reading of Don Quixote, children’s activities,
and a book fair in Dupont Circle.
Word Book Day coincided with the 400 anniversary of the death of Miguel de
Cervantes, one of Spain’s most prolific writers. Embassy staff and members of
the public took turns reading excerpts from Cervantes’ most famous work, Don
Quixote. Meanwhile, children enjoyed creating Cervantes-themed crafts and
getting their picture taken with the book’s most famous characters.
