The Israeli writer, novelist and journalist Amos Oz received last February 4th the Great Cross of the Order of the Civil Merit, one of the most distinguished decorations that a civilian can receive in Spain. Oz, who received the Prince of Asturias Prize in the year 2007, is noted for his efforts in favour of regional peace as one of the founders of the Peace Now movement, as well as for his prestigious literary production.
He received the decoration from the hands of the Ambassador of Spain in Tel Aviv, Fernando Carderera, in a ceremony at the Embassy’s official residence, in the presence of journalists, relatives and friends, and members of the Spanish Embassy.
