PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR A SCHENGEN VISA (SHORT STAY – LESS THAN 90 DAYS) AT THE EMBASSY OF SPAIN IN NEW DELHI

GENERAL RULES FOR SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATIONS

1. Schengen (short stay – less than 90 days) visa applications can be presented at any of the BLS SPAIN VISA APPLICATION CENTERS (VACs) under the consular jurisdiction of the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi. A list of the existing VACs can be found on the following link: https://india.blsspainvisa.com/contact.php

Who can apply for a Schengen visa?

a) Nationals of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bhutan. To be able to apply for a visa, applicants must have been residing in the consular jurisdiction of the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi for at least the last 6 months.

b) Residents in the abovementioned countries who hold a legal residence permit in any of the above mentioned countries.

2. Appointments can be obtained online on the BLS website (https://india.blsspainvisa.com) or by calling the BLS Call Center (0124-4556710), although walk-ins without prior appointments are accepted at all the VACs. Information and requirements regarding short stay visas are available on the BLS website.

3. In line with Schengen regulations, applications must be presented at least 15 days prior to the proposed date of travel (this does not include any extra processing time the Embassy may require for submission of additional documentation or for personal appearance before a Consular Officer). The Embassy of Spain is not liable for any financial loss incurred by applicants due to late submission of applications. Applications are processed on a first in first out basis.

4. BLS international Services Ltd. is only responsible for the reception of applications and release of the passports after they have been processed. BLS International Services Ltd. does not have a say on whether your visa will be granted and how long it will take to process your application, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Embassy of Spain.

5. Status queries are not entertained by the Embassy of Spain or by BLS International Services Ltd. during the stipulated processing time of 15 days.

6. As per article 5 of the Schengen Border Code, holders of valid Schengen visas can be requested to present proof that they fulfil all entry conditions at the first port of entry into the Schengen area. Hence, applicants who have been granted the requested visa must carry all supporting documents while travelling.

7. In case of refusal / annulment / revocation of a visa, applicants will be issued a letter in English and Spanish providing the reasons on which the decision has been based.  In the case of visa refusals, applicants may submit an appeal for reconsideration at any of the BLS Spain VACs within one month from the date of the notification of refusal.
