Call for applications for MAEC-AECID Scholarship Programs on Arts, Education, Science and Culture for the Academic Year 2020-2021

 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
               
Details of the period of application for the different programs may be found in the third article of the rules of the Call for Applications.  All deadlines shall end on the date specified in the said article at 2:00 p.m. in line with the working hours of the AECID Official Website.
 
Program 1.4: Scholarships for training at the headquarters of partner national Academies of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language (RAE)
 
Application period: From January 13 to 27
(The telematic register of the AECID shall accept applications until 2:00 p.m.)
 
Objective of the Program: Grant scholarships to carry out the program of activities set out by each of the national Academies in the fields of Spanish linguistics, lexicography and philology and with particular attention to the joint projects of the Association of Spanish Language Schools (ASALE) (https://www.asale.org/).  These scholarships shall be renewable.
 
Applicants must be nationals of  Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, USA  and Venezuela. In case the applicant is not a national of the country where the requested national Academy is located, he or she must be a resident in the said country.
 
Applicants must hold a university degree related to Spanish Linguistics and Philology.  They should not be more than 45 years of age by the 31st of December 2020.
 
Duration of the scholarship: From the 1st of September 2020 to the 31st of August 2021.
 
Financial assistance:
 
a.     Monthly allowance of 750 €.
b.     Accident insurance.
 
The successful applicant must also arrange and pay for health care coverage in the country that he or she is assigned for the duration of the scholarship.  The first disbursement of the financial assistance shall depend on the submission of documentary proof of the said insurance.
 
Program 1.6: Scholarships for musical training excellence at the Queen Sofia School of Music in Madrid
 
Application period: From the 13th to the 27th of April (The telematic register of the AECID shall accept applications until 2:00 p.m.)
Objective of the program: Grant scholarships to talented young people to pursue careers in violin, viola, cello, double bass, oboe, trumpet, clarinet, bassoon, flute or singing at the Queen Sofia School of Music.  These scholarships shall be renewable.
 
Applicants must be nationals from the following countries: Cape Verde, Egypt, Ethiopia, Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Senegal and Tunisia.
 
Applicants must have a pre-admission notice from the Queen Sofia School of Music to any of the cited music studies, with the granting of the scholarship depending on making enrolment official.  (Other conditions: School enrolment ends on the 16th of February). Duration fo scholarship: From the 1st of September 2020 to the 30th of June 2021.

Program 1.7: Scholarships for Master´s Degree for civil servants and public administration personnel of countries included in the bilateral strategies of the V Master Plan of Spanish Cooperation and some international agencies
 
Application period: From the 17th of February to the 6th of March (The telematic register of the AECID shall accept applications until 2:00 p.m.) 
 
Objective of the program:
 
 
a.     Grant scholarships to civil servants and public administration personnel, including public schools and state universities, of certain countries included in the bilateral strategies of the V Master Plan of the Spanish Cooperation to pursue a master´s degree in Spain for a maximum of 60 credits of the European Transfer Credit System, which must be registered with the Spanish Registry of Universities of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain. The Master´s Degree Program must be related to the course of action under the framework of the V Spanish Cooperation Master Plan (Annex XIX).  To apply for these scholarships under section (a), applicants must be nationals of Cape Verde, Egypt, Ethiopia, Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Senegal and Tunisia. 
b.    Grant scholarships to teachers of Filipino public universities and schools to pursue at a Spanish university a master´s degree in Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language with a maximum of 60 credits of the European Transfer Credit System. 
 
c.     Grant scholarships to civil servants of countries included in the bilateral strategies of the V Spanish Cooperation Master Plan to pursue the Inter-university Master´s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations of the Escuela Diplomática de España (Development Cooperation module). http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Portal/es/Ministerio/EscuelaDiplomatica/Paginas/Inicio.aspx. To apply for these scholarships under sections (a) and (c), applicants must be nationals of Cape Verde, Egypt, Ethiopia, Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Senegal and Tunisia. 
d.    Grant scholarships to civil servants or personnel of African and Arab regional organizations: African Union, New Alliance for the Development of Africa, ECOWAS, G5 Sahel and Arab League, to pursue the Inter-university Master´s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations (Development Cooperation module) of the Diplomatic School of Spain. 
 
In the case of officials or employees of the UA and AUDA-NEPAD organizations,  applicant must be a national of: Angola, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho , Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone , Somalia, Swaziland, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Djibouti, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
 
In the case of officials or employees of the ECOWAS organization, applicant must be a national of: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
 
In the case of officials or employees of the G5 Sahel organization, applicant must be a national of: Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania or Niger.
 
In the case of officials or employees of the Arab League, applicant must be a national of: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine or Tunisia.
 
All applicants (sections a), b), c) and d)), must process, at the same time as the application for the scholarship, pre-admission at the institution where the Master´s Degree program will be held, in accordance with the requirements set by the educational institution with the granting of the scholarship conditioned to the definitive admission. They must also prove their knowledge of Spanish. 
 
Duration of the scholarships: Up to ten months within the period: September 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021.
 
Financial assistance
 
  1. Monthly allowance of 1.200 €.
  2. Tuition assistance, including administrative fees: up to € 5,000. For the Master´s Degree Program mentioned in sections c) and d) of this program, the maximum tuition expense shall be € 1,250. The payment of the registration will be made directly to the interrn or to the university, upon presentation of the corresponding invoice.
  3. Travel assistance as established in article 7 of the Rules for the following maximum amount.

d. Travel assistance and accident insurance 
 
The dissemination of this Program I.7 is requested among public institutions that are of interest to the Spanish Cooperation, as well as among the African and Arab regional organizations mentioned in section d) so that employees wishing to apply for scholarships may have the necessary information and time to make the necessary arrangements in their workplace, and prepare the documentation required in the application, as well as process the pre-admission in the study center where they request to pursue the Master´s Degree Program.
