Salamanca University Tuna visits Malta

From the 10th to 13th October, on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of Spain, the Tuna of the University of Salamanca offered various performances in Malta.
 
The University of Salamanca is the oldest and most famous of Spain with almost eight centuries of history and is composed by current and former students of the University, of different a faculties. They play with different kinds of instruments: Spanish guitar, mandolins and lutes, accordion and all kinds of percussion instruments.
 
The Tuna of the University of Salamanca played on the streets of Mdina, Gozo and Valletta, where they offered a performance at the National Library at 7pm on the occasion of the publication of the seminar papers on the “Second Colloquium on Spanish-Maltese history”. A seminar organized by the Maltese Historical Society in collaboration with this Embassy.
 
The Tuna of Salamanca has been awarded in numerous contests and competitions in both national and international level. It has also participated in several festivals and played for many personalities such as the Pope Juan Pablo II, the Prince of Asturias, the Prince and Princess of Japan, the Prince and the Princess of Wales,  various Presidents of Spain, some winners of the Nobel Prize, and many Presidents of the Congress and the Senate in Latin America.
