The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAUC) and its network of Embassies and Consular Posts abroad comply with current regulations on the protection of personal data: Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (hereinafter the General Data Protection Regulation or " GDPR " ); and Spain’s Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December 2018, on the protection of personal data and digital rights.

1. Who is responsible for the processing of your data?

Inspección General de Servicios (Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, Unión Europea y Cooperación; Plaza de la Provincia, 1; 28012 Madrid; Spain) leads on data protection. A data protection officer of that department ensures compliance in both the head office and the international network. The data protection officer can be contacted by e-mail (dpd@maec.es).
2. How do we obtain your personal data?
The Ministry has obtained your data directly from forms that you have filled in when applying online of off line for a consular service, making a query or participating in a selective process to fill a job position.
3. Why are we entitled to process your personal data?
The processing, in compliance with current regulations, is based on your express consent, given at the time of collection of the personal data you voluntarily shared with us.
4. What do we do with your personal data?
The processing of personal data serves various purposes: to provide a consular service, to answer a query or to ensure participation in a selection process, to name but a few.
4. What type of personal data is processed?
These data are, more often than not, your name, surname, ID card number, contact details.
5. To whom is your personal data communicated?
In order to deliver a consular service, personal data may be shared with other Public Administration oganizations  
6. How long will your data be kept?
Personal data will be kept as long as you do not revoke your consent to the treatment. In any case, please note that MAUC has put in place procedures for the deletion of personal data according to the legally established retention periods.
7. What are your rights in relation to the processing of your data?
Data protection regulations grant you a series of rights relating to your personal data that you may exercise. These rights are as follows:
- Right of access: you may know the personal data you have shared with MAUC and the use given to it.
- Right of rectification: you may ask for the amendment of your data, should they be inaccurate or outdated.
- Right of portability: you may obtain a copy in an interoperable format of the data you have shared with us, in order to provide them to another data controller.
- Right to limitation of processing:  you may ask to limit the use of your data, provided that such a request be one of the situations established by the current regulation. 
- Right of cancellation: you may request the deletion of your data when no further processing of it is necessary.
- Right of opposition: you may ask that we stop sending you newsletters and similar communications.
- Right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority:  in Spain, this authority is the Spanish DataProtection Agency.
You may exercise these rights either by post (Embassy of Spain, 17A Merlyn Park, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, Ireland, Eircode D04 HF53) or electronic mail (emb.dublin@maec.es). In that case, you will be kindly required to provide evidence of your identity as the owner of the data on which you are exercising the aforementioned rights.
