ENTRY CONDITIONS TO SPAIN FOR TRAVELERS FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THIRD COUNTRIES FROM JUNE 7th, 2021

1. I am in Guinea/Sierra Leone and I am Spanish, what documents do I need to travel to Spain?
 

 
 
In addition to the usual documents, Spanish citizens who are in Guinea/Sierra Leone must be provided with:
 

 
 
a) Proof of compliance with sanitary conditions. One of the following three certificates must be presented; it can be written in Spanish, English, French or German and presented in original or electronic form:
 
- Valid vaccination certificate confirming that the person has received a COVID-19 vaccine (see point 5); or
 
-          Diagnostic certificate indicating the negative result of a diagnostic test for active infection with COVID-19 (PCR test) issued within 72 hours prior to the arrival in Spain or antigen test issued within 48 hours prior to the arrival in Spain (see point 6) ; or
 
- Recovery certificate confirming recovery of COVID-19 (see point 7).
 
b) QR code generated after filling out the health check form through the website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application, available on Android and iOS.
 

 
 
c) In the case of a trip with a vaccination certificate, when entering Spain, the QR code « DOCUMENTARY CONTROL» generated after entering the data from the vaccination certificate on the health control form on the website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application.
 

 
 
2. I am in Guinea/Sierra Leone and I am not Spanish citizen. What do I need to travel to Spain?
 

 
 
From the 7th of June 2021 people with a valid vaccination certificate can travel to Spain (art. 1 k) Order INT/552/2021, of the 4th of June 2021, see points 4 and 5).
 

 
 
In addition, citizens who belong to one of the categories of persons exempted from the restrictions established in Article 1 of Order INT/552/2021 of the 4th of June 2021 may travel to Spain:
 

 
 
a) Regular residents of the EU, Schengen Associated States, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City (Holy See) or San Marino who travel to this country, accrediting it with documents.
 
b) Holders of long-stay visa issued by a Member State or a State associated with the Schengen areas who are going to that country.
 
c) Health professionals, including health researchers, and elderly care professionals moving to or returning from their professional activity.
 
d) Transport staff, seafarers and aeronautic staff necessary to carry out air transport activities.
 
e) Diplomatic, consular, international organizations, military, civil protection staff and members of humanitarian organizations, in the exercise of their functions.
 
f) Students carrying out their studies in the Member States or States associated with the Schengen area and who have the corresponding permit or visa for a long term stay, provided that they go to the country where they are studying and that the entry takes place during the academic year or in the previous 15 days. If the destination is Spain and the duration of the stay is up to 90 days, it must be proven that the studies are carried out in an approved educational center in Spain, registered in the corresponding administrative register, and that they follow a full-time and in person program, leading to a degree or certificate of study.
 
g) Highly qualified workers whose work is necessary and cannot be postponed or carried out remotely, including participants in high-level sporting events taking place in Spain. These  circumstance must be justified by supporting documents.
 
h) People traveling for imperative family reasons duly accredited.
 
i) Persons who document reasons of force majeure or need, or whose entry is authorized for humanitarian reasons.
 
j) Residents of third countries listed in the annex provided that they come directly from there, that they have transited exclusively through other countries appearing on the list or that they have only carried out international transits at airports located in countries not mentioned in the appendix. In the case of residents of China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Macao SAR, reciprocity remains to be verified.
 

 
 
3. I am in Guinea/Sierra Leone and I belong to one of the above categories that can travel to Spain, what documents do I need to show to travel to Spain ?
 

 
 
In addition to the usual documents and the valid visa (in case this is necessary according to the nationality of the traveler), when you are going to make your trip to Spain, you must present:
 

 
 
a) Documents proving the purpose of the trip and that the traveler makes part of one of the categories  indicated above.
 
b) Proof of compliance with sanitary conditions. One of the following three certificates must be presented; it can be written in Spanish, English, French or German and presented in original or electronic form:
 
- Valid vaccination certificate confirming that the person has received a COVID-19 vaccine (see point 5); or
 
-        Diagnostic certificate indicating the negative result of a diagnostic test for active infection with COVID-19 (PCR test) issued within 72 hours prior to the arrival in Spain or antigen test issued within 48 hours prior to the arrival in Spain (see point 6) ; or
 
- Recovery certificate confirming recovery of COVID-19 (see point 7).
 
c) QR code generated after filling out the health check form through the Website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application, available on Android and iOS.
 
d) In the event of travelling with a vaccination certificate, when entering Spain, the QR code “DOCUMENTARY CONTROL” generated after entering the data from the vaccination certificate in the health control form on the Website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application.
 

 
 
4. I am in Guinea/Sierra Leone, I want to make a short trip to Spain (for tourism or business) and I have a valid vaccination certificate, what documents do I need to provide to travel to Spain)?
 

 
 
In addition to the usual documents and the valid visa (in case this is necessary according to the nationality of the traveler), you must present:
 

 
 
a) Vaccination certificate confirming that the person has received a COVID-19 vaccine (see point 5 on admitted vaccines and deadlines)
 
b) QR code generated after filling out the health check form through the website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application, available on Android and iOS.
 
c) QR code « DOCUMENTARY CONTROL» generated after entering the data from the vaccination certificate in the health control form on the Website www.spth.gob.es or in the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application. 
 

 
 
This documentation must be presented upon boarding and upon arrival to Spain. In addition, upon arrival in Spain, the person may be required to carry out a health check which will include, at least, a temperature measurement, and a documentary and visual check.
 

 
 
5. What does the vaccination certificate consist of?
 

 
 
Spain accepts vaccination certificates from the competent authorities of Guinea/Sierra Leone 14 days after the date of administration of the last dose of the complete vaccination schedule. The vaccines accepted will be those authorized by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organization (as of 06-09-2021, those vaccines are: Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca, Jansen, Sinopharma and Sinovac).
 

 
 
The vaccination certificate must include at least the following information:
 
a) Name and surname of the owner.
 
b) Date of vaccination, indicating the date of the last dose administered.
 
c) Type of vaccine administered.
 
d) Number of doses administered/complete regimen
 
e) Country of Issue.
 
f) Identification of the body issuing the vaccination certificate
 

 
 
6. What does the diagnostic certificate consist of?
 

 
 
 
Spain accepts diagnostic test certificates for active COVID-19 infection with a negative result . Acceptable diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection will be:
 
-       Molecular nucleic acid amplification (NAAT) tests, used to detect the presence of ribonucleic acid (RNA) of SARS-CoV-2, issued within 72 hours prior to the arrival in Spain.
 
-       Antigen detection tests included in the common list of rapid antigen detection tests for COVID-19, published by the European Commission on the basis of Council recommendation 2021/C 24/01 advice, issued within 48 hours prior to the arrival in Spain.
 
 
 
The diagnostic test certificate must include at least the following information:
 
a) Name and surname of the owner
 
b) Date of sample collection.
 
c) Type of test performed.
 
d) Country of issue.
 

 
 
7. What is the recovery certificate?
 

 
 
Spain accepts recovery certificates issued by the competent authority or by a medical service at least 11 days after the completion of the first NAAT diagnostic test with a positive result. The validity of the certificate will end 180 days from the date the sample was taken. 
 

 
 
The trade-in certificate must include at least the following information:
 
a) Name and surname of the owner
 
b) Date of collection of the positive diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2.
 
c) Type of NAAT test performed.
 
d) Country of issue.
 

 
 
8. What documents do minors under 16 traveling to Spain From Guinea/Sierra Leone have to present?
 

 
 
In addition to the usual documents and a valid visa (in case this is necessary according to the nationality of the traveler), minors must provide a different certificate depending on their age.
 
* Children under 12: They are exempt from presenting any type of certificate (vaccination, diagnostic or convalescence). In any case, they will have to present the QR code generated after filling out the health check form through the website www.spth.gob.es​ or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application, available on Android and iOS.
 

 
* Children from 12 to 18 years old:
 
- In the case of a trip with an adult whose cause justifying the trip is the exemption provided for in article 1. K) of the order INT/552/2021, of the 4th of June 2021 (i.e. presentation of a valid vaccination certificate), they must also provide vaccination certificate 
 
- In the event of travel covered by one of the other exceptional causes provided for in article 1 of the order INT/552/2021, of the 4th of June 2021, (point 2), they must present :
 
a) Proof of compliance with sanitary conditions. One of the following certificates can be presented; it can be written in Spanish, English, French or German and presented in original or electronic format.
 
- Valid vaccination certificate confirming that the person has received a COVID-19 vaccine (see point 5); or
 
-            Diagnostic certificate indicating the negative result of a diagnostic test for active infection with COVID-19 (PCR test) issued within 72 hours prior to the arrival in Spain or antigen test issued within 48 hours prior to the arrival in Spain ; or
 
- Recovery certificate confirming recovery of COVID-19 (see point 7).
 
b) QR code generated after filling out the health check form through the website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application available on Android and iOS.
 
In case of travel with a vaccination certificate, when entering Spain, the QR code   « DOCUMENTARY CONTROL" generated after entering the data from the vaccination certificate in the health control form on the website www.spth.gob.es on the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application.
 

 
 
9. I am a national of Guinea/Sierra Leone and I will be in transit in Spain, what documents do I need to transit through an airport in Spain?
 

 
 
In addition to the usual documents and the valid airport transit visa (in case this is necessary according to the nationality of the traveler), it is necessary to present:
 
a) QR code generated after completing the health check form through the website www.spth.gob.es or the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) application, available on Android and iOS.
 
b) In transit, the person may be required to carry out a health check which will include, at least, a temperature measurement, and a documentary and visual check.
 

 
 
10. In addition to the documents required by Spain, do I need anything else to travel from Guinee/Sierra Leone to Spain?
 

 
 
It is highly recommended, in the event that during the trip between Guinea/Sierra Leone and Spain you make a transit/stopover in another country, to check the entry conditions in that country and the required documents as the transit country may require additional time for negative COVID test or other supporting documentation.
