RESIDENCE VISA TO REUNITE A FAMILY MEMBER WITH A LEGAL RESIDENT IN SPAIN
This visa allows you to reunite in Spain with a family member that is a legal resident in Spain.
The visa process takes a maximum of 4 weeks from the day the application and all documents are completely and successfully submitted.
DOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT TOGETHER WITH THE APPLICATION
All documents to be submitted in original form + 1 copy translated by a certified translator.
2. Original Passport and ID (plus 1 photocopy of both): Valid passport for a minimum of 1 year, with at least one blank page to affix the visa. Your passport may remain at the Consulate. Please, provide proof of residency in the ACT by means of a copy of Australian Driver’s license or Bank accounts or bills you pay in the ACT.
3. Two recent passport sized photos: (White Background, 2x2’’) attached to the form.
4. Notarized copy of passport and Spanish resident card of foreigner (your husband) permanently residing in Spain.
5. Authorization of residence issued by the “Subdelegación del Gobierno” duly stamped and registered.
6. For spouse: Marriage and birth certificate issued in the last 6 months, legalized with the Hague Apostille.
7. Medical certificate: Letter typed on doctor’s stationery stating that you do not suffer from any of the diseases which need quarantine under the International Health Regulation.
8. Proof of residence in Spain of your spouse permanently residing in Spain ("Certificado de Empadronamiento").
9. Recent Conviction Information Request Form (Police fingerprints clearance checks from Australia).You must also get a police record from the countries where you have lived during the last 5 years. Translated into Spanish by a certified translator.
10. Notarised letter from foreigner already residing in Spain, which will include his/her name, surname, passport number, requesting a reunification visa for his/her spouse explaining that the person who is applying for that visa will be living with him/her in Spain. This letter must be notarised in Spain and not older than 3 months.
IMPORTANT NOTICE AFTER ARRIVAL IN SPAIN: Please read carefully
No later than 30 days after applicant’s arrival in Spain, applicant must request a Residence Card (Tarjeta de Residencia) at the Subdelegación del Gobierno (Oficina de Extranjeros).

The average processing time is one month and in some instances longer, especially during the Christmas/New Year periods and during the Spanish summer months. It is the applicant’s responsibility to lodge their application on time.
