PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE LODGING AN APPLICATION

A non-lucrative residence visa allows you to reside in Spain without engaging in any remunerated activity.

Visa processing may take up to three months.  Applicants must lodge their visa applications in person and collect their visas, if approved, also in person. Approved visas that are not collected within one month from the date of written notification of approval, will be withdrawn.

To lodge an application, please contact the Consular office by email at emb.canberra@maec.es to make an appointment.

Please note that during the examination of a visa application, some additional documents may be requested in order to determine that all requirements to obtain the visa are met.

You will be required to present original documents and a photocopy.  Originals will be returned after they are sighted at the Consular office.

The visa, if granted, is valid for 90 days so it must be presented at the Oficina de Extranjería (Immigration Office) or “Comisaría de Policía, Departamento de Extranjería” during the first month from the date of arrival in Spain to apply for your residency card which will replace your visa once in Spain.
