Non-lucrative Visa
NON LUCRATIVE RESIDENT VISA 
 
This visa allows you to reside in Spain without engaging in any type of lucrative activities. The process may take between 2 to 3 months from the day all documents are presented. Once your visa is authorized, we will contact you by email and you (and all your family members applying for a visa) will have to come in person to this Consular Office within a month with your passport and an itinerary of flight to Spain to obtain the visa. 

WHERE AND WHEN TO APPLY 
The Consular Section of the Embassy of Spain in Canberra will consider applications for Visas. Apply at this Consular Section, if your permanent address is in the ACT or Queanbeyan. For other States, check the corresponding Consulate of Sydney or Melbourne. Provide proof of residency in the ACT or Queanbeyan. 

WHAT TO SUBMIT 
The consular administration has full authority to evaluate, and request more documents than those submitted by the applicant. The latter is hereby informed that submitting the aforementioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of the visa. The documents accepted in order to process the visa.

Original and one photocopy of each of the following items must be presented. 
1. National visa application form: The application forms must be filled out in print and signed. 
2. Form EX-01: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish: Form EX-01 
3. Form EX-015: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish  
4. Original Passport: Valid passport for a minimum of 1 year, with at least one blank page to affix the visa. 
5. Two passport size photos: (White Background, 2x2in) One per application form. 
6. Notarized document explaining why you are requesting this visa, the purpose, the place and length of your stay in Spain and any other reasons you need to explain. 
7. Proof of sufficient regular income (investments, annuities, sabbaticals and any other source of income) to live in Spain without working. The minimum income required is 25,816.32 Euros annually plus 6,454.08 euros per each additional family member. 
8. Police Criminal Record clearance must be verified by fingerprints. It cannot be older than 3 months from the application date. The certificate must be issued by the State Department of Justice. Original clearance letter form signed (from the countries where you have lived during the past 5 years).Non Australian documents must be translated into English and legalized in their countries of origin with the Apostille of The Hague convention. 
9. Medical Certificate which should be a doctor’s recent statement (not older than 3 months in doctor’s or medical centre’s letterhead) indicating that ‘the patient has been examined and found free of any contagious diseases according to the International Health Regulation 2005’ and must be signed by an M.D. 
10. Proof of having international medical insurance while in Spain (1 year). 
11. Non-Australian Citizens will have to provide evidence of their legal residence in Australia (for example: valid Australian residence visa). 
12. Authorisation form M790 C052, plus the Authorisation fee:
13. If you don’t have a NIE yet (Foreigners' Identity Number), you will have to apply for one

SPOUSE 
ORIGINAL and ONE PHOTOCOPY of each of the following items must be presented 
1. National visa application form: The application forms must be filled out in print and signed. 
2. Form EX-01: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish: Form EX-01 
3. Form EX-015: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish  
4. Original Passport: Valid passport for a minimum of 1 year, with at least one blank page to affix the visa. 
5. Three passport size photos: (White Background, 2x2in) One per application form. 
6. Marriage certificate (not older than 3 months) authenticated with the Apostille of The Hague. 
7. Police Criminal Record clearance must be verified by fingerprints. It cannot be older than 3 months from the application date.The certificate must be issued by the State Department of Justice. Original clearance letter form signed (from the States where you have lived during the past 5 years). It must be legalised with the Apostille of The Hague Convention. You must also get a police record from the countries where you have lived during the past 5 years.

MINOR CHILDREN 
ORIGINAL and ONE PHOTOCOPY of each of the following items must be presented 
1. National visa application form: The application forms must be filled out in print and signed. 
2. Form EX-01: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish: Form EX-01 
3. Form EX-015: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish  
4. Original Passport: Valid passport for a minimum of 1 year, with at least one blank page to affix the visa. 
5. Three passport size photos: (White Background, 2x2in) One per application form. 
6. Birth certificate authenticated with the Apostille of The Hague
7. Medical Certificate with a certified translation into Spanish, which should be a doctor’s recent statement (not older than 3 months in doctor’s letterhead) indicating that ‘the patient has been examined and found free of any contagious diseases according to the International Health Regulation 2005’ and must be signed by an M.D. 
8. Proof of having international medical insurance while in Spain. 
9. Non-Australian Citizens will have to provide evidence of their legal residence in Australia (for example: valid Australian residence visa).

VISA FEES
We only accept cash (exact change). No personal cheques or credit cards. 
• The processing fee will not be returned in the event that the visa is not granted or cancelled. 
The endorsed visa is valid for 90 days during which time you must present your original documents (stamped by this office) at the “Comisaría de Policía, Departamento de Extranjería” to apply for your residency card which will replace your visa once in Spain. 

All applications should be lodged in person it will no longer be possible to lodge an application by post.
