YOUTH MOBILITY PROGRAMME VISA FOR AUSTRALIANS

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE LODGING AN APPLICATION
 
A youth mobility visa allows you to travel work and/or study in Spain for one year under the conditions of the Youth Mobility Accord signed in 2014​.​​
 
Visa processing may take up to one month.  Applicants must lodge their visa applications in person and collect their visas, if approved, also in person
Approved visas that are not collected within one month from the date of written notification of approval, will be withdrawn.

Please note that during the examination of a visa application, some additional documents may be requested in order to determine that all requirements to obtain the visa are met.  
 
You will be required to present original documents and a photocopy.  Originals will be returned after they are sighted at the Consular office.
 
In order to be eligible for this visa, young Australian nationals must:
a. hold a valid Australian passport. 
b. be between the ages of 18 and 30 years (they must apply before turning 31) 
c. have successfully completed at least two years of higher education.
d. possess a functional level of Spanish (to be evaluated at the time of the interview).
e hold or have sufficient resources to purchase a return ticket and have the financial resources needed to support themselves at the beginning of their stay.
f.  before entering Spain, agree to purchase medical insurance, including hospitalisation and repatriation, for the full period of their authorised stay.
g.   not to be accompanied by dependants.
h.   not to have previously taken part in the Programme.

 
PURPOSE OF THE TRIP
 
In accordance to Clause 9.2 of the Accord, the Australian citizens taking part in the Programme will not be allowed to work for the same employer for a period longer than six months during their stay unless expressly authorised to do so by the Government of Spain.
 
In accordance to Clause 9.2 of the Accord, the Australian citizens taking part in the Programme will be permitted to engage in one or more courses of study or training for a total period of no longer than four months during their visit to Spain.
 
Foreign nationals who hold a valid long term national visa can move freely through other Schengen States for a maximum of three months within any six month period, so long as they meet the entry conditions.

 
PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS 
You must submit originals and photocopies of the following documents:
 
1. National Visa application form, completed and signed with two (2) recent photographs. 
 
2. A valid Australian passport or travel document. 
 
3. Return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase it. 
 
4. Proof of financial means.
 
5. Police Criminal Record clearance:
- From the Australian authorities (Australian Federal Police) (name and fingerprints) 
- From the appropriate authorities of any other countries where the applicant has lived during the past five years. 
Please note that:
- Police clearances cannot be older than three (3) months from the date of the application.
-      Australian and foreign documents must be translated into Spanish in their countries of origin and stamped by the appropriate Consular Office of Spain or apostilled. 
 
6. Medical Certificate a statement signed by a doctor indicating that ‘the patient has been examined and found free of any contagious diseases according to the International Health Regulation 2005’.  This certificate cannot be older than three (3) months from the date of application. 
 
7. Proof of having successfully completed two years of higher education
 
8. Proof of possessing a functional level of Spanish
 
9. Proof of having international comprehensive medical insurance with an insurance company authorised to operate in Spain (including costs for medical and hospital, medical evacuation and repatriation)
 
10. Application for a National Identification Number for Foreigners (N.I.E) EX-15​ and complete form 790/012​ and pay the appropriate consular fees
 
11. Pay the appropriate non-refundable 
visa processing fee. Please confirm the current visa fee with the Consular Office.
