Non-lucrative Visa

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE LODGING AN APPLICATION
 
A non-lucrative residence visa allows you to reside in Spain without engaging in any remunerated activity. 

Visa processing may take up to three months. Applicants must lodge their visa applications in person and collect their visas, if approved, also in person.

To lodge an application, please contact the Consular office by email at emb.canberra.sc@maec.es to make an appointment.​

Please note that during the examination of a visa application, some additional documents may be requested in order to determine that all requirements to obtain the visa are met.  

You will be required to present original documents and a photocopy. Originals will be returned after they are sighted at the Consular office.
 
The visa, if granted, is valid for 90 days so it must be presented at the Oficina de Extranjería (Immigration Office) or “Comisaría de Policía, Departamento de Extranjería” during the first month from the date of arrival in Spain to apply for your residency card which will replace your visa once in Spain. 
 
PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS

Please submit:

1. National visa application form: The application forms must be filled in duplicate, signed and dated. 

2. Form EX-01: Form must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish.​ Guide to fill in form EX-01

3. Passport: Passport or travel document recognised by Spain with a minimum validity of 12 months. 

4. Two recent passport size photos: (White Background, 2x2in) One per application form (glued, not stapled). 

5. Statutory declaration explaining why you are requesting this visa, the purpose, the place and length of your stay in Spain and any other reasons you need to explain. This document must be presented in Spanish.

6. Proof of financial means (proof of a source of regular income without having to engage in any business or professional activity in Spain, for you and your family, where applicable, for the requested period of residence and in the following amounts:
 
1. A monthly amount of 2, 259.60 euros or its equivalent in a foreign currency to support yourself during the requested period of residence in Spain.
 
2. A monthly amount of 564.90 euros or its equivalent in a foreign currency for the support of your dependents during their requested period of residence in Spain. This amount is additional to the one mention in the previous point 1.


7. Police Criminal Record clearance of every applicant over the age of 18(cannot be older than 3 months from the date of application):
 
- From the Australian authorities (Australian Federal Police) (name and fingerprints) 
 
- From the appropriate authorities of any other countries where the applicant has lived during the past five years.
 
Please note that:
Australian and foreign documents must be translated into Spanish in their countries of origin and stamped by the appropriate Consular Office of Spain or apostilled. 

8. Medical Certificate: a statement signed by a doctor indicating that ‘the patient has been examined and found free of any contagious diseases according to the International Health Regulation 2005’.  This certificate cannot be older than three (3) months from the date of application. 

9. Proof of having international medical insurance with an insurance company authorised to operate in Spain.
 
10. Non-Australian Citizens will have to provide evidence of their legal residence in Australia (for example: valid Australian residence visa). 

11. Authorisation form M790 C052 (proof of payment of the consular fee). Please check the current fess with the Consular Office.
 
VISA FEES​ 

· Please check the current fess with the Consular Office.

· We only accept cash (we have no ATM or EFTPOS facilities).
· The processing fee is not refundable if the visa is not granted or cancelled.  

ATTENTION: If you wish to travel accompanied by your family, each member will need to provide same documents as per listed above and also, these extra documents:

 

- Certification of Relationship with the main applicant Certification of Relationship with the main applicant(Marriage or Birth certificates): Original and legalised copy. If it is not an Australian document, it is necessary to be translated with the Apostille of the Hague.

- Visa fee for each applicant.
