Appointments at the Consulate in New York




To apply for a visa you need a confirmed appointment.

To get an appointment you must follow the instructions depending on the type of visa to be requested:
- short stay visas (stays for 90 or less days): click here

- Student Visas: the representative of the university or study abroad program must contact the Visa's Department sending a request to
If a representative is not available, the student will request a visa through an individual appointment. Appointments cannot be made by phone or in person. Only one appointment per applicant.
Before requesting an appointment to present documents for the registration of birth, marriage, nationality and other Civil Registry procedures, please make sure you have all the necessary documentation. To obtain an appointment* you must submit the documentation first by e-mail directly at the following e-mail address: Appointments are not required to register a death of a citizen of Spain.


Appointments are very recommended but not mandatory. To register or un-register from the consular list or to apply for a new passport you may book an appointment on the following secure website:
Appointments cannot be made by telephone. Please remember: only one appointment per person.
Also, applicants may come to the Consulate with no appointment, any business day from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 2pm. The National/Passport/Census Department will try to assist applicants as soon as possible. Occasionally, at certain times, an excess of demand could cause an unavoidable delay and excessive waiting time. Therefore, if you prefer to be assisted at a specific time, minimizing the waiting time, it is recommended to make an appointment at your convenience, depending on the availability. Applicants with previously booked appointments will be assisted first.

Spanish citizens that request a power of attorney must be registered in the consular list prior to their appointment.
