Starting from 6th June 2016, an appointment per person is required. Each visa applicant is not allowed to have more than ONE appointment. If you have more than one, all your appointments will be cancelled.
 

​Nationals of countries included in the list ( List I and List II ) are required to apply for an airport transit visa.

 

Transit through Madrid Airport between Terminal (T1, T2, or T3) and Terminal (T4 or T4S) may require a Uniform Schengen Visa. Please contact us for further information.

 




 

Visa Application

Required documents: (Original + 1 photocopy)

  • Fill in the Schengen Visa Application Form ( download )
  • 1 recent colour photo in white background
  • Passport (with at least 2 blank pages, must be valid for at least 3 month after leaving the Schengen area, and cannot be issued more than 10 years ago)  
  • Hong Kong / Macau ID card
  • Flight reservation for the whole trip  
  • Valid visa for the main destination 
  • Minors must submit the visa application together with both parents. Application must include a written consent signed by both parents with their phone numbers; otherwise application will not be accepted. Applicant must also provide the minor’s birth certificate. If this certificate has not been issued in Hong Kong or Macao, it must be legalised and translated into Spanish or English.

Airport Transit Visa
These visas entitle their holders to pass through the international transit zone in a Spanish airport.
 
The procedures and conditions for issuing these visas are included in Regulation (EC) No. 810/2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code)

Nationals of the following country need a visa for transit through any airport located in the territory of the Schengen States to take a connecting flight to a country outside the Schengen Area:

• Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka.

 

Nationals of the following country also need a visa for transit through the international zone of any airport located in Spain to take a connecting flight to a country outside the Schengen area:

• Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, India, Liberia, Mali, Sierra Leone, Syria, Togo and Yemen. Holders of passports issued by the Palestine Authority also need visas.

 

Nationals of states included in the above lists do not need airport transit visas if they hold a Schengen visa or a visa of any other type, a residence card that allows their return, issued by a Member State of the European Union, the European Economic Area (EEA), Andorra, Canada, Japan, San Marino, the United States, or one of the overseas states and territories of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, or a diplomatic passport; or if they are family members of citizens of the EU or EEA; or if they are members of the flight crew of States that are part of ICAO.
 
The application for an airport transit visa must be submitted via an application form duly filled in (original and copy).The form may be downloaded free from this website or may be obtained, also free, from Spanish Diplomatic Missions or Consular Offices abroad.
 
The visa must be applied for in person or through a duly accredited representative at the Spanish Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office in whose territory the applicant resides legally. If there is no Spanish Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office in a particular country, it may be applied for at the Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office that represents Spain in the country in question.
 
At the time of presenting the application for a visa the corresponding fee must be paid in the form of payment that has been established. This amount is not returnable if the visa application is rejected. The basic visa fee is 80 euros for applicants over the age of 12; 40 euros for applicants aged 6 to 11; and free for applicants under the age of 6.  Check with the Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office where you are applying for the visa whether there are any exemptions or reduced fees applicable in virtue of international regulations or agreements. A service fee is payable for applications presented via a visa outsourcing firm; applicants may voluntarily access additional services at an extra cost.
 
The maximum period for processing short-term visa applications is 15 calendar days from the date the application is presented. This period may be extended to a maximum of 45 calendar days in specific cases, particularly when it the application has to be examined in more detail.
 
If the visa is refused, the applicant will be notified by a standard form indicating the reason for the refusal. In this case, an appeal may be lodged before the administrative division of the High Court of Justice of Madrid within two months from the notification date. Optionally, an administrative appeal for review may be presented before same Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office within one month from the date the refusal is notified.
 
Data protection
The personal data of the visa applicants will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
