
Mr. Jesús Gracia Aldaz
Born in
Zaragoza on March 3, 1960, he has a degree in Law and in Hispanic Philology
from the University of Zaragoza.
He joined the Diplomatic Service in 1985.
He has extensive
experience in Latin America and development cooperation, as Secretary of State for Latin American and
development cooperation, (January 2012-december 2016), previously, was appointed Ambassador
of Spain to Cuba, (2001-2004),
Deputy head of mission to Buenos Aires, Argentina (2011) Consul General in
Córdoba Argentina (1992-1996) and
counsellor for development cooperation in Central America, based in costa Rica
(1989-1992)
In 1996 he was
appointed Director-General of the Institute for cooperation with Latin America,
a position he held until 1999, when he assumed office as Secretary-General of
the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation, AECI.
Between 2005
and 2010 he worked as a consultant in the company LV Salamanca Ingenieros.
In January
2012, he took office as Secretary of
State for International Cooperation and for Latin America.
In January
2017 he was appointed Ambassador of
Spain to the Republic of Italy.
From January
2019, Consul General of Spain in Guangzhou (P.R. China)
He is Knight
of the Order of Isabella the Catholic and holds the Grand Cross of the Order of
May of the Argentine Republic, among other honors.
He speaks
English French and Italian
He is married
and has three children.
